Tradition Meets Innovation – Since 1960
The success story of Girrbach Süßwarendekor began in 1960, when confectioner Richard Girrbach founded the company.
His vision was to make the work of his fellow confectioners easier by producing decorations made from marzipan, sugar and chocolate.
With this approach, he laid the foundation for a company that, from the very beginning, was defined by practical solutions and genuine craftsmanship.
Growth and Early Innovations (1960–1980)
The business developed rapidly, and Girrbach continuously expanded its product range.
By 1970, the company had begun developing and producing chocolate decorations – a major step that opened up entirely new markets.
In 1978, Girrbach built its first dedicated production facility in Calw-Wimberg to meet the growing demand.
In 1980, the company entered the private label business. From then on, Girrbach began developing products for end consumers, laying the foundation for its future success in the retail sector.
Technological Progress and International Expansion (1990–2000)
In 1990, Girrbach started developing custom-printed marzipan and chocolate decorations.
Two years later, in 1992, a production line for printed chocolates in consumer packaging was commissioned.
1994 marked another important milestone:
The development and launch of production systems for shaped sprinkles.
To keep pace with ongoing growth, the Calw production site was expanded in 1996 to include a modern high-bay warehouse and new administrative offices.
Since the late 1990s, Girrbach has been part of the Swiss holding company Condessa AG, paving the way for a stronger international focus and growth.
Diversification and Sustainability (2000–2020)
In 2002, Girrbach expanded its range to include custom-printed pralines, further underlining the company’s creative diversity.
In 2016, Girrbach received RSPO certification, supporting the sustainable cultivation of palm oil products.
That same year, the company was awarded its first organic certification, marking a clear commitment to environmental responsibility.
In 2018, the brand “Richie’s Bakery” was launched – a tribute to the company’s founder, Richard “Richie” Girrbach.
This brand made it possible to bring to life many of the innovative product ideas that could not be realised under private label brands.
Girrbach Today – Globally Connected, Regionally Rooted
